A rich tapestry of sound to highlight the queen's remarkable life including references to the Jubilee year in madrigals and anthems.
Our programme marks this historic time with a sequence of madrigals written for the Queens illustrious predecessor Elizabeth I heard alongside Britten's Choral Dances from "Gloriana" (composed to mark the late Queen's Coronation.) We also hear two royal anthems including Redford's 'Rejoice in the Lord' and Purcell's funeral sentence Thou Knowest Lord.
Added to this will be Monteverdi's beautiful setting of Beats Vir, a true classic, setting the psalmists inspiring words which define the blessings given to the faithful.
