NOËL NOËL

Unicorn's annual 'not the nine lessons and carols'!

Capivating carols from mediaeval to modern: expect some musical surprises and audience participation.

St. Catwg's Church, Llangattock. NP8 1PH.

Friday December 23rd at 7:30pm

Unicorn Singers are busy preparing for their ever-popular Christmas concert, Noël, Noël! and would like to invite you to join them on Friday, December 23rd at 7.30pm in St Catwg's Church, Llangattock, NP8 1PH. As always, their programme will explore a rich seam of carols that capture the true spirit of the season, and also encourage some hearty participation from the audience!

True to form, the singers have unearthed a rich treasure-trove of settings from across the ages: everything from medieval to modern. Their programme highlights the sumptuous sound world, both of Renaissance composers Byrd, Lassus and Praetorius, and also contemporaries Arvo Pärt, Morten Lauridsen and Cecilia McDowall. Through this tapestry of alluring sound we hear the familiar story of the stable retold afresh and, as usual, listeners should always expect the unexpected!

Pieces include:

  • Byrd: Vultum tuum
  • Lassus: Omnes de Saba
  • Praetorius: Resonent in Laudibus
  • Lauridsen: O Magnum Mysterium
  • Warlock: I saw a maiden
  • Parsons: Ave Maria
  • Handl: Rorate Caeli
  • Arvo Pärt: O Morgenstern
  • Medieval: Lauda di Cortona

We look forward to welcoming you to start the festive celebrations!
